Depreciation schedule
Build a year-by-year depreciation schedule for your books, or for Nepal income tax using the Schedule 2 pools. Everything runs in your browser.
Schedule
Estimates for bookkeeping and study, not accounting or tax advice. Straight-line spreads cost less residual value evenly over the useful life; diminishing balance applies the rate to the carrying amount each year and clears what is left above the residual value in the final year; double-declining uses twice the straight-line rate and switches to straight-line once that gives the larger charge. Your accounting policy and IAS 16 govern the method you actually use.
Estimates only, not tax advice. Follows Schedule 2 of the Income Tax Act 2058: pools A to D are written down at 5%, 25%, 20% and 15% of the pool balance; cost added up to the end of Poush counts in full, Magh to Chaitra two thirds and Baisakh to Ashadh one third, with the rest added the next year; when a year's depreciation would be under NPR 2,000 the whole remaining balance is claimed; sale proceeds above the pool balance are taxable gain. Pool E assets are written off over their useful life, rounded to the nearest half year, each as its own class. Rates last checked ; the Finance Act 2083 made no change to them.
